Example: converting a vague methodology into an aligned design
This study will survey diabetic patients to understand adherence and use different statistical tests.
This analytical cross-sectional study will recruit eligible adults receiving outpatient diabetes care during a defined study period. Medication adherence will be measured using a pre-specified scoring rule, while demographic and care-related variables will be collected as candidate explanatory factors.
The sampling frame, eligibility criteria, recruitment procedure, variable coding, missing-data plan, and plausible confounders will be specified before data collection. Descriptive analysis will summarise the sample and adherence outcome; association analyses will then be selected according to variable type and the study objectives.
This version makes the design type, population and sampling logic, measurement plan, and analysis pathway visible and internally consistent.
