Evidence-based practice in nursing and allied health sciences plays a critical role in improving patient care, reducing preventable complications, supporting rehabilitation, strengthening diagnostic pathways, and enhancing healthcare system efficiency. Disciplines such as nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, medical laboratory technology, radiography, dietetics, speech-language therapy, public health, and emergency care contribute to patient outcomes through both direct clinical intervention and coordinated multidisciplinary practice.
Current literature suggests that successful implementation of evidence-based care depends not only on clinical guidelines, but also on staff education, leadership support, patient engagement, documentation systems, technology adoption, and institutional culture. For example, structured nursing handovers, early mobilization protocols, infection prevention bundles, nutritional screening pathways, and patient education models have been associated with improved quality indicators in multiple healthcare settings. However, translation into routine practice remains uneven, particularly in resource-limited settings or high-workload clinical environments.
A well-developed review article must therefore synthesize evidence across clinical practice, patient-centered care, quality improvement, workforce training, interprofessional collaboration, and implementation barriers. Instead of presenting isolated study findings, the article should explain how evidence supports practice change, where gaps remain, and how nursing and allied health professionals can contribute to safer, more effective, and more equitable healthcare delivery.
